Ayumi Kasai's works are not compareable to usual anime- or manga-illustrations. Those are sheer graphic masterpieces which take the viewer's breath away! Her surreal Art-Déco style tends to M.C. Escher, Erté, Beardsley and Klimt. Each picture tells a story and lives from countless details, graphic forms surround almost photorealistic faces and will never let you escape from viewing. She mixes colorful cheerful scenes with brutal elements of horror, tender romantic with decay and live with death. This book contains fullcolor illustrations of her Tarot card series and b/w artworks which will catch ones attention. It's an absloute must-have for every lover of fine arts and also for all who love homoerotic - beside some illustrations with women you can find many erotic scenes with beautiful boys. The only nuisance factor: a book like this deserves better quality paper and at least hardcover. |
